And indeed, kwrite got removed by the last zypper dup. Manual reinstallation fixed it. Was it removed from template?
Yes. That's not a recent change though. It isn't installed by default in Leap 42.3 either (only kate is): Mon Feb 27 08:07:16 UTC 2017 - fvogt@suse.com - Replace kwrite with kate ( https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/460648 ) I suppose it's argueable whether we really should install two KDE text editors by default (IIRC both got pulled in somehow before that change, I'm not sure though), or whether we should prefer kate or kwrite (both are just different frontends to the same ktexteditor component anyway). In any case, it shouldn't get uninstalled on updates/upgrades if it was installed, unless there's some conflict.
2) plug-in a USB-stick, select 'open with file manager': error message 'malformatted URL' and file manager does not open. Opening dolphin manually and selecting the USB-device displays the content, so mount process was working properly.
That's somehow related to the last udisks2 update to 2.7.6, installing the previous version (2.6.5) from Leap 15.0 should "fix" that AFAIK. See https://github.com/storaged-project/udisks/issues/502 which suggests it may be related to using libmount that's enabled by default in 2.7.6 now. There are similar recent bug reports in KDE's bugzilla, they are about "already mounted" errors though so not necessarily the exact same problem (although they seem to be "fixed" by downgrading udisks2 as well).
