Chose ONE mail list and stay there. Anything that is not the current factory version is offtopic here.
I'm tempted to request that you get banned for two weeks from all mail lists so that you respect the rules next time.
I notice that you couldn't answer the question. AFAIK, 12.3 is the factory version. If it doesn't belong here then where? AFAIK, this problem is present in 12.2 and the belief that is is necessary is causing many scripts to stop functioning as I've tried upgrading package, so far, there is no indication that there is or will be a viable workaround short of reformatting your system disk, so this also appears to be a 12.2 problem. I again ask you which audience do you think wouldn't want to know the answer to this question or why it can't be solved, or how it could be solved? As I have pointed out -- if it is really impossible to have an issue that affects both the current release and the factory release, which seems unlikely, then having the list software automatically reject any crossposted email sent to either address would be trivial -- I am sure you would agree. This way we wouldn't need self-appointed busy-bodies telling people what to do -- and it wouldn't cause them to be irritated at people who do feel that there are some issues that apply to current and in-development releases, nor would it cause such people to feel like they or their issue is being singled out for harassment. If it is not the case that such a simple solution is appropriate when such filtering is almost certainly already in place for other problematic emails, then it would seem clear it isn't against policy and that there are issues which would be appropriate for both lists. This issue affects those installing 12.2 now, and those who will bein installing it, 12.3 [factory], or 12.4 (next factory). It's an issue that affects both users AND developers -- as such, it is an issue that could benefit from discussion and input from both users who tend more toward being on the 'suse' list, and developers who might, very easily, limit themselves to the factory list. It's an issue appropriate for both venues. So how is it not appropriate to cross-post discussion if it is *ever* appropriate to discuss any issue on both lists? Stop telling me I'm bad and wrong and tell me which audience you think should be shut out of this issue. Haven't you read several responses from many users who think that giving input on issues like this is pointless because such issues are made in arena's where they have no input? Wouldn't having the discussion limited to the factory list further that impression. Even though they are free to join the dev-list, they may not feel all development issues are their interest. However, major issues affecting boot, software compatibility, and disk layout could easily be of more interest to most than more arcane topics. Similarly, but for different reasons, having the discussion only on the more user-oriented list, would also hinder discussion and flow of information. Certainly that is not your intent? I don't know about you, but I have filtering SW that can easily filter 3 copies of a discussion like this, 1 into the user folder, one into the dev folder and one into my 'directly addressed folder' (should I be on the list of recipients directly). Such matters are trivial and not really worthy of the attention either of us are devoting to this matter if such trivialities are the only thing bothering you. Your hostility and zeal for hindering open communication, though, might lead someone to believe otherwise.
