Why don't you want to let systemd to (try to) win in a fair contest as well? Do you think system admins are stupid so that you have to take the decision from them for their own good?
Nobody forces anybody to use anything. You have a choice of distro and OS. According to your analogy all that happens is that your local horse salesman decided to sell only cars an no horses anymore. Nobody forces you to give-up the horses you are riding, nobody forces you to stay with your salesman – and if that salesman took the wrong decision he will go bankrupt.
