I usually update my system with the traditional yast method.
Is that boot from the 12.3 DVD, then choose "upgrade"? Notice that as this method is limited to update only what is in the DVD, the rest is not updated; thus you have to upgrade the rest manually and on-line. More info here: <http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Offline_upgrade>
Now on 12.3, xfce no longer automounts devices in my USB card-reader. I think it used to work on 12.2, and it definitely work on a 12.3 installation from scratch.
My upgraded 12.3 and the previous 12.1 does not mount anything automatically. I have to open thunar, then click on the entry for the new device: then it is silently mounted. In fact, I prefer this behaviour, but maybe it is configurable. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
