Thanks! rsyslog was but syslogd wasn't I have never seen that missing before.
Had the same problem, syslogd was missing and installing it also installed klogd.
So it's not just me as I always tend to think :) How did you install? Mine is 64 bit net install from CD image. Syslog daemon and kernel log daemon not installed by default? I doubt that. Must be a bug.
