Your "grep" output seems to show that group. Perhaps that's from after you added it?
No, I did not add it. The grep was to show that the group existed.
The group "systemd-journal" exists here. I checked a system installed today (in a KVM virtual machine). I also checked a system installed in January (on a physical machine), and one installed in November. All have that group. Two of the systems that I checked are at Build213.1, with others at Build206.1.
Using Yast, I had no difficulty adding a user to that group, in the user details.
