AFAIK coolo patched kdm so that /etc/..kdmrc is obsolete now. Only the kdmrc in /opt/kde3/.. is used from now on.
Why? :-( Isn't /etc designed/intended for systemwide config files? Yes, the config to change is in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager though
I had two questions though: a) why did you look for kdmrc to begin with
1-Before I ever reach runlevel 5 the first time I fix all the broken defaults, after backing them up, which there is no provision to do with kcontrol. Changing what?
