If you are using tumbleweed repo and you want to use also vbox, basically you have two options : 1, (as John suggest) remove old virtualbox provided by openSUSE add repo provided by oracle http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/rpm/opensuse/11.4/ and install vbox from oracle repo, kernel modules needed for proper vbox run, will be built automatically 2, add repo provided by openSUSE (vbox build against Tumbleweed): https://build.opensuse.org/project/show?project=Virtualization%3AVirtualBox_... and install vbox from it (kmp modules are already built here) ... if you are interested why was vbox dropped from tumbleweed repo, read this thread: http://lists4.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2011-04/msg00018.html bye On Sun, Jul 24, 2011 at 2:31 PM, Jonas Gastal <jgastal@gmail.com> wrote:
Hello all,
I'm using tumbleweed and would like to install virtualbox, however it depends on virtualbox-host-kmp-desktop version 4.0.4_k2.6.37.1_1.2-1.6.1 which in turn depends on kernel-desktop-base version 2.6.37.6-0.5.1. However tumbleweed has kernel-desktop version 2.6.39.3-37.1 which means I'd need to downgrade my kernel to use virtualbox. Could tumbleweed provide a version of virtualbox for the newer kernels?
