You just see: welcome to grub. And then it is over, no selection, no boot. Just black screen.
Not even "Entering rescue mode..."?
I guess I will have to fix with a reinstall (or does anybody have an alternative solution?). Formatting was LVM and EXT4
Is it EFI or BIOS? If EFI, is secure boot enabled? BIOS, old machine, no dual boot, regular install. No rescue mode. The screen gets black, no error message, no failsafe, no tty1. It started now. It took one hour to come up (do not know what was this?) But then I restarted and now it works. It is a very old 939 with mixed PCI-e AGP mainboard (yeap historical!). So maybe the CPU did take all this time? In all cases it seems to work now. Included the encryted LVM and without having to hop tty7-8-7 to have the password prompt as it was before. Thanks and sorry for the alarm.
