Reposting because the attachement wasn't compressed. Fixed now. --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Larry Stotler <larrystotler@gmail.com> Date: Fri, May 30, 2008 at 2:13 PM I've noticed a couple of things with the Beta/RCs that I probably should have posted before. They are not really bad, but they are different from my i386 install. 1. There are no green and black graphics on the graphical install. It's always grey. Not a big deal, and it probably is faster without them. 2. The new IDE-SATA driver that sets my IDE drive as sda in my thinkpad doesn't work on the Powerbook. So, it's still hda and hdc on the Powerbook for the hard drive and CD-ROM. 3. My Dlink 690TXD card(rtl8189) wasn't detected by the installer nor is it listed in lspci. There is an onboard 10Mbps BMAC controller, and it worked fine. The DLink card was detected just fine under the Thinkpad. Well, the update failed. I tried to see what packages were to be installed(it had added Aparmour.....which was set to taboo under Beta3......) and YaST crashed: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'zypp::Exception' what(): Cannot open file /etc/zypp/locks YaST got a signal 6 at YCP file /mounts/mp_0002/usr/share/YaST2/clients/packages_proposal.ycp:37 /usr/lib/YaST2/startup/YaST2.call: line 480: 2229 Aborted (core dumped) $OPT_FBITERM y2base "$Y2_MODULE_NAME" $Y2_Mode_FLAGS $Y2_Module_ARGS $Y2_MODE $Y2_UI_ARGS *** An error occurred during the installation. I had selected the Pages option and then just selected Accept. I clicked on the agreements to agfa-fonts, flashplayer, java(both), and then ok for the additional packages. After that YaST crashed. I didn't change any of ther package options. The attachment includes all the files from the install's /var/log/YaST2 directory.
