I would like to submit a new package to Factory later but unfortunately the licensing is not fitting cleanly with the packaging rules. The package in question is this: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:LKucharczyk/mac The license is described here: https://www.monkeysaudio.com/license.html
It says "Monkey's Audio source can be included in GPL and open-source software, although Monkey's Audio itself will not be subjected to external licensing requirements or other viral source restrictions."
considering that I'm not a lawyer - if it can be included in GPL-based software it has to fit GPL license. Although the next sentence say 'we are not doing any licenssing'
Does that mean the package cannot be included in openSUSE? If it can, what should I use as a value for "License" in the spec file? I've tried "custom" but that just spits out a warning with all the possible values ("custom" not being one of them).
openSUSE follows https://spdx.org/licenses/ At the bottom of https://www.monkeysaudio.com/license.html is an email for questions regarding the licensing - maybe you get in touch with them and ask to clarify with regard to spdx? Plan B would be to ask a SUSE lawyer for advise.... HTH Axel
