Hereby a -1 from me. Reason: When an unexperienced user installs an application later, he usually needs all what is recommended by this particular application. Installing recommends only during initial installation results "broken" (from unexperienced user point of view) installations of later applications. BUT: I wrote "what is recommended by this particular application". This means when foo is to be installed and foo recommends bar and bar recommends baz, then only foo bar and baz should get installed by default. In contrast when qux is already installed and qux recommends quux and the above foo is to be installed, then quux should not also get installed by default. In short: By default no recommends from already installed packages. By default only recommends from to be installed packages.
