2008/6/10, Stefan Dirsch <sndirsch@suse.de>:
The correct resolution is set after the installprocedure is set, so it's not a major problem. Is this something solveable? I have tried to google for a solution but came up empty.
Seems you use a different google ;-)
Searching for "kernel param vga= 1440x900", I found http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=113901 which says you should try vga=0x365 or 357. http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Lenovo_Thinkpad_T61 says vga=868 should work.
I don't know which one is correct - you'll have to find out yourself ;-)
Depends on the BIOS. Check with "hwinfo --framebuffer". Possibly such a resolution is not provided by the BIOS at all.
Stefan hwinfo reports that max resolution is 1024x768. But how does Yast figure out the correct resolution later on? Could not that be used in the install procedure also? It's no big deal, but it would look better for new users.
