I'd suggest maintaining such big collection with [0] and using the 'play' plugin [1] to play it in pretty much any player (e.g. [2]).

I experimented with beets long time ago and found it lets say arduous. But perhaps it deserves a second try. Thx for this hint anyway. Bye.
