No idea why you think it's SUSE vs. openSUSE. I assume you mean the technical requirement of having a RPM Group Tag for existing SUSE products. This exists and cannot be removed, only for new SUSE products. Thorsten

I myself will sit on the fence because we need openSUSE + SUSE = great :) otherwise especially now (CTLG) both sides will ground to a halt.
