I'm going to give it a try myself in a VM tomorrow, and will try make necessary adjustments if necessary. Well, I did.
Unfortunately zypper is still insisting on installing some Plasma5 packages from the standard repos (and removing the KDE4 desktop in the progress), although my repo has a higher priority and my packages even have a higher release number. I have no idea why at the moment... A workaround is though to explicitly install those packages from my repo: sudo zypper in --from my_KF5_repo baloo5-file baloo5-tools kactivities5 kscreen5 ksshaskpass5 ksysguard5 plasma5-addons plasma5-desktop plasma5-session kde-gtk-config5 (you have to replace "my_KF5_repo" with the name or number on your system of course) Then a subsequent "zypper up" should not try to remove the KDE4 desktop packages any more. ("zypper dup" will still want to though) Sorry, but that's the best I can offer for now. I'll try to investigate more where exactly the problem lies, but TBH this hasn't really high priority for me and I'm not sure that's solvable at all (I did go through all package dependencies already).
