Has the hang issue with Leap 42.3 and Intel graphics cards been resolved now in the released version?
Since yesterday, drm-kmp-default 4.9.33_k4.4.79_4 exist in default Leap 42.3 update repository. It fixes major problems with Intel graphics. See also:

I've been running the drm-kmp-default package from the test-update repo for a while, and it certainly helped the issue, as my system was utterly unusable before. But I still have graphical artifacts, garbled fonts in plasmoids sometimes and fairly frequent short temporary Xorg lock-ups and even had a couple of hard Xorg lock-ups. And this despite I disabled compositing in Plasma altogether to try and minimize gfx issues. Before I tried running with compositing on, but all effects off, but this was still worse than with compositing completely off. This is on a Thinkpad T410 with 4 gigs of ram. linux-841s:/home/cb400f # rpm -qa *kernel* *drm-kmp* kernel-firmware-20170530-9.1.noarch drm-kmp-default-4.9.33_k4.4.79_4-5.2.x86_64 kernel-default-4.4.79-19.1.x86_64 kernel-default-4.4.79-4.2.x86_64 linux-841s:/home/cb400f # hwinfo --gfxcard 08: PCI 02.0: 0300 VGA compatible controller (VGA) [Created at pci.378] Unique ID: _Znp.nUjOwTmEfZC SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:00:02.0 Hardware Class: graphics card Model: "Intel Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller" Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation" Device: pci 0x0046 "Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller" SubVendor: pci 0x17aa "Lenovo" SubDevice: pci 0x215a Revision: 0x02 Driver: "i915" Driver Modules: "i915" Memory Range: 0xf2000000-0xf23fffff (rw,non-prefetchable) Memory Range: 0xd0000000-0xdfffffff (ro,non-prefetchable) I/O Ports: 0x1800-0x1807 (rw) IRQ: 25 (5471 events) I/O Ports: 0x3c0-0x3df (rw) Module Alias: "pci:v00008086d00000046sv000017AAsd0000215Abc03sc00i00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: i915 is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe i915" Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Primary display adapter: #8 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
