Who has done what to the sound in KDE. This is a new effect. The sound work flawless on on TVtime (Line input), YouTube but fails everywhere else KDE4 Alerts and notices , Amarok (PCM inputs). It could be a upgrade to kmix 4.5.3-#. Anyone else seeing this sound problem.
I have had a problem now for a week or so where sound in flash plays in firefox or with flashplayer, MPlayer and other stuff plays on /dev/dsp, but other programs report hw:0 or /dev/dsp busy, e.g my SDR programs, so I have had to use hw:1 and hw:2 with those. Previously I was able to use card0 and card1.
Sounds a bit like trademark PulseAudio behaviour :-|
I wonder if PulseAudio was included in the KDE patterns recently, as planned for 11.4: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kde/2010-07/msg00235.html
So maybe check if you have PulseAudio installed and running - and please also test that it can be easily removed.
