Xorg works just fine on a desktop that will never need wacom, (synaptics, joystick, etc?) in xorg-x11-driver-input. libinput* evdev, keyboard and/or mouse seem to be more than enough.
You probably do not need the joystick input driver for X11. It does not seem to do anything useful anyway. If libinput took over synaptics touchpads the synaptics driver may be obsolete by now. However, wacom input devices do not work with libinput so far so if you happen to have one you will not get usable graphical desktop without the driver. It is quite possible to use a graphical desktop without any pointer input but that does not apply to any of the desktops you can select in the installer. In fact it probably does not apply to any desktop you can select through patterns and you have to craft your own for that to work out. So a X11 pattern should include the driver.
