Unfortunately openSUSE 11.3 M6 could not "switch" it to be as an usb-3G modem automatically (but M5, which is never investigated) because there is no usb_modeswitch package in factory repositories at this time.
Yeah, it finally got dropped IIRC, because it has no maintainer.
Should I file a bug?

can't you just "eject sr0" to switch the device? Definitely worth trying. The rules if the switching should be done in-kernel or with stuff like usb-modeswitch are changing all the time, so I gave up on fixing this for the devices I have been using. Fortunately, I now have hardware that does not need switching ;) -- Stefan Seyfried "Any ideas, John?"
