Yes, of course. root (hd0,1) kernel /vmlinuz-3.11.10-7-desktop root=LABEL=a_main resume=LABEL=b_swap showopts initrd /initrd-3.11.10-7-desktop It is loaded by grub, it uses the (hd0,1) reference.
