Is init command no longer supposed to symlink to or call whatever immemorable 3X-15X command string is supposed to replace it?
I just booted with 3 on cmdline,
Using exactly what cmdline ?
root=LABEL=HS80suse122 ipv4only=1 noresume splash=verbose vga=794 video=1152x864@60 3
logged in root, then issued 'init 1'.
Instead of dropping to single, it went all in (runlevel 5, starting KDM) instead of shutting down network services and giving me a chance to restart everything single doesn't require, by subsequently issuing an init 3 command.
Does systemctl isolate rescue.target has the same behaviour ?
Welcome to openSUSE 12.2 "Mantis" - Kernel 3.4.6-2.10-desktop (tty3). hs80e login: hs80e # Dependency failed. Aborted start of Getty on tty1. hs80e # systemctl isolate rescue.target -> KDM startup on tty7 When I Ctrl-Alt-F3 back to tty3, no prompt is available as if instead init 5 had been issued with sysvinit-init installed, but working logins do exist on tty[1,2,4,5,6]. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
