Regarding this, I have found a relevant bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156476
It seems that ark/kde4 lacks the --extract and --extract-to arguments. One possible solution would be having both kde3/ark (just for the extract and extract here menus) and kde4/ark for the rest. It is
probably
to late to fix this I guess.
While this is still not implemented in KDE4, there is a nice add-on in packman repository called 'kde4-ExtractAndCompress' who fill this
gap.

Not for 11.1 RC1.....it needs "unace" which I haven't found in the repositories yet.

indeed, rar, arl and unace are missing...
have they ever been there? you should use unrar, unarj to get ark to decompress.. rar, unace are available from packman. btw, this servicemenu and functionality is at least available in kde4.2b1.
