I've heard a lot of problems concerning 3.17. Interestingly when I installed the proprietary NVIDIA from repo, it also causes a freeze at udev. Perhaps the fault is udev, and not the kernel?
I'm no expert but doesn't nVidia install include re-compile of the driver? Could that make the difference? Having said that, I've just done that and had no problem with freezes with 3.17.2 either before or after installing nVidia. Perhaps I'd better add "yet" to that, just in case! Only times I've got this freeze is when trying to install the Tumbleweed iso's (20141107); both the DVD and Live KDE have stalled at this point. -- Graham Davis [Retired Fortran programmer - now a mere computer user] openSUSE Tumbleweed (64-bit); KDE 4.14.2; AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor; Kernel: 3.17.2; Video: nVidia GeForce 210 (using nVidia driver); Sound: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
