I just verified and on my system alsamixer is functional, despite I had some sound issues as soon I've upgraded.
AlsaMixer v1.1.7 ──────────────────────────────┐ │ Card: PulseAudio F1: Help │ │ Chip: PulseAudio F2: System information │ │ View: F3:[Playback] F4: Capture F5: All F6: Select sound card │ │ Item: Master Esc: Exit
In the meantime I had rebooted the machine, may be this could help you(?)
rebooting did not help.
If I compare the packages I see, that /etc/alsa-pulse.conf is missing in the new package. Changelog says
==== alsa-plugins ==== Subpackages: alsa-plugins-pulse alsa-plugins-pulse-32bit
- Remove the old override configs as the updated setup-pulseaudio script should handle the new configs (bsc#1116153)
As a quick work-around I copied /etc/alsa-pulse.conf from the previous packages alsa-plugins-pulse-1.1.7-2.1.x86_64.rpm.
