You are running openSUSE 12.2 with which KDE version ? KDE3 or KDE4 ? If it is KDE4, why are you then running KDM3 ?

Raymond Because it is default in 122, with KDE4, according to yast. I am very sorry, but I find it very hard to believe that 12.2 will come with KDM3 as the default desktop manager. Are you sure about this ? I guess that

Is this a new installation or an upgrade from an older system that used to run KDE3 ?

To be honest, i found it hard to believe to, as in 121 KDM3 was already obsolete. 121 and 122 are not compatible, so no, it is not an upgrade. I used KDE4 from the start in 11? Install 122 yourself, and you'll see.. To change the login manager was also in 121 not possible, only to a worse state than the standard theme. That is commonly known. The themes that should be able to use, were never able to be installed. Something between KDE systemsettings, and yast, if i recall correct. -- Have a nice day, Oddball.
