Rather pop up a dialog - if the hibernation is triggered from the desktop. If it comes from a command like "powersave -U" it has to be forced (it may come from low UPS battery alarm). Same for low battery. Also to consider is if the user closes the lid of a portable, I think it should be forced, or give a loud audible warning. And all this should be configurable by root via Yast.
I should add that I'm all in favour of power-saving measures such as hibernation - but they do require prior resolution of issues such as this. Until then it mustn't be the default.
