Hi,
if you get bored of testing 13.1 Beta, do not hesitate in providing us feedback :-)
Two immediate questions:
a) what is ETVX and what's it doing here?
Aeneas explained what it is. What's doing here? We decided to use a methodology and this one is a simple one, so it was easy to learn and to use.
b) who is the openSUSE product manager? (I wasn't aware we had one).
AJ has been traditionally playing that role. When he moved to other duties, I took over. It is a SUSE role, not an openSUSE one.
Why should there be a SUSE special role in the openSUSE project? We have been and are still working very hard to remove "SUSE special roles,", re-introduction of a SUSE special role appears counter intuitive. Secondly I do not see the need for the product manager role, disclaimer: I have not yet read the whole document, but will read it shortly. A product manager traditionally defines market requirements does competitive analysis and then creates an MRD (Market Requirements Document), evaluates feature requests and decides about features that should be implemented. This is not how we operate today. Today the openSUSE project/community/distribution grows organically. If we want to have directed growth of features etc, than a Product Manager might be required, but before we move in such a direction an open discussion bye the developer community would be required to decide whether or not we want such directed growth/development. More comments on the document to come ;) Later, Robert -- Robert Schweikert MAY THE SOURCE BE WITH YOU SUSE-IBM Software Integration Center LINUX Tech Lead rjschwei@suse.com rschweik@ca.ibm.com 781-464-8147 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
