My EFI partition is 2 GB in size and only 1% used as I'm only using 5.9 MB right now.
When I built this system last year I made the partition 2 GB in case I switched to systemd-boot so that I didn't have to adjust the size later to hold the kernels. EFI partition size really shouldn't be a factor for a firmware update, though (that's one thing I was asking here to confirm).
Agree 100%, the efivars are stored in NVRAM and are not related to the EFI partition at all. I was just giving you additional confirmation of that since I have a 2 GB EFI partition -- Regards, Joe
