The instructions have always been to ask first, either here or in the newsgroups, before using bugzilla. I'd say Basil did the right thing.
You might think that searching bugzilla first would be an option but my experience of that is that the likelihood of finding a match is about 10%; perhaps this newer version will be better but I'll reserve judgement on that.
Well, it depends ;-) If you see something that is clearly a bug, I don't see a need to ask on the mailinglist first - go directly to bugzilla, and if a quick search doesn't bring up "your" bug, open a bugreport. Don't worry too much about reporting a duplicate - the bugzilla statistics show that only about 12% of all bugreports are marked as duplicate. OTOH, about 50% are marked as "fixed" so your bugreport has a good chance to end up in the "fixed" range too ;-) If you notice something strange and want to ask on the mailinglist first to clarify if it qualifies as bug - well, my personal experience is that strange things are a bug most time ;-) (That's also why I directly go to bugzilla.) At least you should open a bugreport if you don't get a response within one or two days. BTW: If you want to see the exact numbers, the bugzilla report feature can help you. Click "Reports" (in the footer) -> "Tabular reports". Then select "Resolution" for the horizontal and "Product" for the Vertical Axis. In the Status and Resolution boxes, select (or unselect) everything. Finally, click "Generate Report" and enjoy the numbers ;-) Regards, Christian Boltz --
Was ist das, "Nacht"? Das ist der Zeitraum, in dem Du effektiv administrieren kannst. Weil anscheinend die User alle total faul sind, und sich ausgeloggt haben. [Wilfried Kramer]
