I guess you forgot to quote the "--command-line" parameters. Just try it with kexec --initrd=/boot/initrd --reuse-cmdline -l /boot/vmlinux kexec -e I use this all the time in production systems to save the few minutes the BIOS needs to initialize everything and it works well (on SLES11SP1 though).
