The change has no effect on graphics output of the fully booted machine. Just as now, at some point during boot, a hardware-specific driver, such as amdgpu, i915, etc., will take over the display.
Ah, this might explain what I think is a race/missing dependency condition with an as-yet updated Leap 15.2 machine with the prompt to decrypt home disks. Since switching from nouveau to the proprietary nvidia driver the "pretty" prompt doesn't appear in the splash screen during boot, but if I drop out to the boot console I can see a prompt from systemd waiting for the key to decrypt and mount the disk. This might be a very narrow use-case, and/or fixed in 15.3 & TW for a while. And I know the proprietary nvidia driver isn't openSUSE's responsibility (but it doesn't lock the display ~1 in 5 suspend/resume cycles) Daniel
