Good to hear! Perhaps it would be good as OpenSUSE feature request, although it's not trivial, since people with two single jacks probably want to keep the old setup... I liked the idea of having it switchable as suggested in the bug.

I had the same problem and fixed it by some manual changes to /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-input-internal-mic.conf basically following the workaround in the comment in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101798#c5 You also need to lower the priority of analog-input-headphone-mic.conf (same dir), e.g. to 85 instead of 87, otherwise it switches by default to headphone, not to headset.
The only problem is that an update of pulseaudio will revert it.
