I have noticed that I can not get more than 1024x768 while installing on my HP 6510b with 1440x900.
The correct resolution is set after the installprocedure is set, so it's not a major problem. Is this something solveable? I have tried to google for a solution but came up empty.
Seems you use a different google ;-)
Searching for "kernel param vga= 1440x900", I found http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=113901 which says you should try vga=0x365 or 357. http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Lenovo_Thinkpad_T61 says vga=868 should work.
I don't know which one is correct - you'll have to find out yourself ;-)
Another issue is that I can not do CTR-ALT-BACKSPACE to reset X. Is there a change on this?
As Stefan already wrote: RTFRN ;-)

You can find the correct value for your machine in: Yast2->Hardware->Hardware Information There under Framebuffer you can see all the valid values you can use...
