I tried to copy the image file to a 16GB thumb drive (empty).
What did you use, imagewriter? Notice that it does not matter if the thumb is originally empty or not: anything it might had is destroyed. It is not a normal file copy, it is an image raw copy. There is a full wiki page at our site explaining how to do this copy to usb stick.
At about the 98% mark the copy operation stalled for no apparent reason -- just sitting there with the "Notifications" icon spinning but no copying happening. I'll next see if the Network install image will copy to the thumb drive.
The raw copy process might stall at the end, because the kernel may cache several gigabytes in advance that have to be actually written at the end, with the appearance of stalling. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E.
