What was the result? There seems to be interest (see news.o.o comments).
You better ask on the kiwi list on how far the development is. Right now it's not possible to provide an image afaik. But all necessary tools are on the DVD, so you svn checkout the description and "burn" your own USB stick. But there is no "image" to download.
