sorry to yet again for the thread but this time I think this time we have some really good news!
1. Community (and mostly -v2 internal infra) was heard ALP will have minimal architecture baselines set to x86_64-v2, according to DimStar Factory will adopt the change first!
Not good news at all! I have the following x86_64/amd64 CPUs currently running Leap and/or TW, most both. The following is the age and level inventory of those with v2 or better according to output from lscpu, inxi -Ca and/or /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 --help \| tail -n17: v4 Q1'21 Rocket Lake i5-11400 v3 Q1'17 Kaby Lake i3-7100T v2 Q1'17 Kaby Lake G4600 # no avx, no avx2 v? If we count 7 for v2-up, that's 7 of 26 or 73% of my active 64bit PCs unable to continue with a stable + safe *openSUSE* release after 15.5 support ends in just over 2 years from now. Both my brothers, each with >2 PCs running Leap, and one sister, have no PCs supporting more than v1. Like many people, they can only afford to buy pre-owned, meaning 5 or so years old when acquired, and typically more than 15 years old when retirement anticipated. The gain from v2 vs. v1 *really* needs to be quantified before the switch is flipped. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science.
