I was having this problem when I had 11.0 RC1 installed. Is it also the case with those having this problem you mention above?
(So far I haven't had this problem with 11.0 GM.)

Seams to be related, the only difference is that in your case, it freezed with kde3 and kde4 installed....but with the guys it freeze with kde3 only or kde4 only or both... We are trying to search what is the reason...
If anyone could give some light, would be fantastic...
