Why don't create a popup on both gnome and kde to show the first time the suspend procedure starts to ask the user if he wants to keep this behaviour as default? This will avoid problems avoiding the first auto-suspend and have the advantage to let the user choose the preferred behaviour of it's system.

That sounds good. I'll see if we can still get this in. However, this is only an option (and a good one) for openSUSE.
Provided suspend (hibernate in my case) is stopped till the user accepts. If autosuspends triggers chances are the user is not there to stop it, and damages may happen. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
