I understand what you are doing, but perhaps, considering the size of the files, it would be faster to reformat as ext4 (without journal): mke2fs -t ext4 -L SomeName -O ^has_journal /dev/sde1 I actually have sticks formatted as ext4, ntfs, and fat... depending on destination. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E.
