This snapshot brought us the new 'role based' installation mode for desktop selection, which means GNOME and KDE a 'prominent' on the screen and all others are below 'custom' and 'ticking' the right checkbox for any other DE to be installed. I'd like to ask you to give this new implementation a go and report back any potential issues you have with it.
We decided to merge it as-is in order to give YOU a chance to test it out directly instead of only relying on videos and what people say.
Workstation with KDE/Gnome and Server. I was curious what under 'Custom' is: You end up in a selection screen for patterns (I assume) Expectation was a bunch of other DE.
Question is how to get that DEs. In past ( and still in Leap ) it was maintained by YaST team and people complain that this one should be added or that one is no longer maintained and we do not have resources to maintain it.
I also run into this two days ago. XFCE no longer an easy choice. Selecting it in details by pattern somewhat worked. :-(
Given all the recent weird issues with KDE and that GNOME bloat is also unwanted by many you should be consequent and completely remove the DE selection form.
Ciao, Michael.
You should be able to select "Other" followed by "XFCE Desktop Environment" to get the equivalent system. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B
