Citeren Patrick Shanahan <paka@opensuse.org>:
supposedly, rpmnew and rpmsave are to provide "standard" or "default" configuration files where the system's configuration files have been changed. But there is no /etc/localtime ".conf" file. This is probably an error, but we must wait for someone more knowledgable the I for explanation.
where you see no diff, probably a space or some whitespace char.
but I saw no whitespace diff either, and delted the apparently superfluous rpmnew file.
I have no idea about the localtime rpmnew .... ???
The /etc/localtime is a symlink. In my case, it points to ../usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Amsterdam, but this depends on the timezone you're in. The default is a symlink to ../usr/share/zoneinfo/Etc/UTC if memory serves.
