Kernel 4.14.12 on Tumbleweed automatically disables PTI if AMD is detected. So you shouldn't have to disable PTI yourself now. But PhenomII are quite old, maybe there's an issue with them. However are you sure it's related to kernel? Did you try to launch Steam via command line? ___ Alex aka DarthWound Global Steam Moderator Le jeudi 11 janvier 2018 à 14:23 -0500, mike a écrit :

Hello, are you on AMD or Intel?
I had crashes with my Ryzen build while launching 32bits apps because PTI was enabled, but with kernel 4.14.12 patched to disable PTI on AMD everything is fine and I can launch Steam flawlessly.
AMD Phenom II.....got the new kernel bump today and it still crashes and locks the computer.....guess I will have to disable PTI too, thanks,

Just a quick note...steam still crashes the computer with newer
kernel 4.14.12
Will the fix be noted in the snapshot notes so I will know wether or not
to download it as my boot list will be filled with kernels that steam will not
work with?? Thanks,
