I agree with Carlos and Andrei. The first boot after hibernate should be to the hibernated system. Re-using swap enforces that (or at least encourages that).
Full disclosure -- I rarely hibernate. If I want to start the system where it left off, then I leave it running overnight. I tend to see hibernation as a really ugly hack.
