and when you go and try and ADD repositories the only COMMUNITY repositories available are:

On the other hand, openSUSE 13.2 (and earlier) have a host of Community repositories available such as Packman, libdvdcss, Games, et al -- but Tumbleweed has zilch (aka zero, nil, nothing).
I make much use of VLC (from videolan.org) to watch digital television on my computer (my wife can watch whatever SHE likes on the big screen in the lounge ) as well as watch DVD films. I also like to play some games included in Pysol. But neither vlc nor Pysol are available in Tumbleweed.
The question therefore is: why is Tumbleweed so bereft of Community repositories when they are, and have been for years, available in versions of openSUSE?
Well this is quite simple to explain in a complex world. What you see in yast2 for Community repository is a call to a completely external website which return a bunch of xml to yast proposing repositories. Why so complex : don't ask,. it's question of patents trolls and mushroom :-) All the work is done by 2 of us, yes only that :-) Leap was the big priority for november So yes, a good question about the why. - Laziness come first :-) - Lack of time (this one is hard to fight) What we can do, I've asked Martin who normally maintain the content if we can do that, and perhaps also change our ability to got easier contribution. I've just write down a reminder, so expect some news on that point. But trust me, it will not happen before Christmas ;-) -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Board, fsfe fellowship GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
