So finally you succeeded in cleaning up your system?
Thanks, Stefan
Not quite, although I get an output from glxinfo I still can't start blender :- X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 153 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 181 () Serial number of failed request: 141 Current serial number in output stream: 144 And I noticed this in the glxinfo output :- client glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation So I searched around a bit and found nvidia libs in /usr/X11R6/lib64 of version 190.53 the last nvida run package I installed was 195.36 which seems to be the same version as the nvidia repositories g02 packages so your fix has only half worked and there are libs from a previous nvidia package still floating about. My broken nvidia card was a 6200TC which uses g02 btw but I could never get the same quality from the nv rpms and always used the run package. I installed the 190.53 package around Feb 6. I'm going to try deleting all of those libs manually and then repeat the install/uninstall of the nvidia drivers then Mesa/xorg-x11-server reinstall. Regards Dave P.
Apparently you've still installed the files from various NVIDIA RPMs (although I explained how to get rid of them). Also you might have installed various versions of the official NVIDIA installer, which would be fatal, since I don't know how to get rid of these files any longer when nvidia-uninstall is gone. I'm afraid your system is such a messup now, that you can only reinstall your system. I'm wondering why we still provide these NVIDIA RPMs. It's a lot of work and I don't see any benefit, since apparently nobody is using them anyway.
