Before writing to bugzilla, just to see if you know this already demo dvd, openSUSE 11.2, 32 bits on an old IDE disk, HP/Compaq system with IDE/SATA, gparted and YaST are not able to open the disk to change partitionning when fdisk and cfdisk can do very easily. Parted sees no partition. same system, YaST boot manager from install dvd or running session can't make a good GRUB boot, when the recovery system of the same dvd can (seems related with disk order) reproductible.
