Agree to all of what's said in this thread. How about replacing the whole packagekit stuff by some simple plasmoid-tw-updater that initially doesn't do much more than check for new Tw snapshots and have some "warning sign" in the systray, stating "New Tw snapshot available" ?
I would go on step further. Make it offer the tumbleweed update/list and revert with a link to the site on the snapshot stability because I can never remember where it is and always forget to bookmark.
I would also suggest forking the tumbleweed command and teeing the output just in case the UI breaks in the middle - often you cant logout of KDE after an update when plasma changes so need way to be able to force reboot without init 6 etc
Andrew a trick when plasma menus seem to not work afer upgrade, you should still be able to run runner then type logout or reboot. -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch Bareos Partner, openSUSE Member, fsfe supporter GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
