Package Management: What am I missing?

I've been overall very impressed with the quality of the betas, but each time I run into a roadblock on getting ANY new packages. Specifically can someone tell me HOW DO I INSTALL NEW PACKAGES? I've tried rug, zen, and yast but nothing responds or they just hang. Does anything work? Can someone please give me explicit instructions on how to update beta9? Thanks, Sander
