Note that the EVMS statement as such primarly affects openSUSE.
For the entire lifetime of SLES 10 (which you seem to use) we will of course fully support and maintain EVMS and we are working on the best solution for SLES 11 as we speak, and in any case you should not see any reduction in functionality or the need to reformat/repartition your storage media when upgrading from SLES 10 to SLES 11.
Some of the improvements we are working on (such as an improved partitioner) will affect the user interface, but that's the kind of change which is pretty natural for a major new release.
